MISS CRANKY PANTS
Miss Martin moved my seat today It’s not because I’m bad She stuck me next to mean Janine That made me really mad. Jan’s bottom won’t stay in her chair She argues and she rants She throws her markers on the floor I called her Cranky Pants. She said, “It’s not my pants, you see, “that make me very cross. “My sneakers pinch my toesies so, “if only I were boss. “I’d let everyone go barefoot, “in sunshine, rain, and snow “Their feet could laugh and giggle. “and play at tic-tac-toe.” I took her sneakers in my hands And loosened all the ties She slipped them on and then she beamed, “They’ve grown another size!” BIRTHDAY
CAKE WISHES
What’s better than a wishbone? Or three wishes from a genie? A four leaf clover’s hard to find because it’s teeny-weeny. Will you bend backward on the wall to kiss that Blarney Stone? it’d be easier for you to play the saxophone. What’s better than the first star Seen in a velvet sky? Or throwing pennies in a well And trying to stay dry? Seven dancing candles Are on my birthday cake A wish for each one means Seven wishes I can make! GO TO BED
Mommy tapped her watch and said, “Now it’s time to go to bed.” Like a cat, I slink upstairs Brush my teeth and teddy bear’s On my raft-bed, fun begins Overboard, I see shark fins Magic carpet ride takes flight Soaring higher than a kite With a flashlight then I went Camping with my blanket tent Can’t begin to let Mom see Bedtime is all right with me!
