1-hour
(per grade level preferred)
Tailored
to meet the needs of large groups of combined grade levels.
In
this punchy workshop students will participate in useful
brainstorming techniques and interactive plotting
strategies.
Get
ready to be a-mused and educated! The author's punchy
intro and powerful writing discussions will entertain and
educate students as they participate in a "Chapter
Challenge Writing Session" designed by the author. (Handout
is thoroughly explained and used as a visual during
discussion.) *Chapter Challenge is a systematic premise
planner designed by the author which mocks the setup of an
actual book (it's pre-titled, has a book blurb and 5
pre-titled chapters). The students will be challenged to
outline the book's (story) progression within each
pre-titled chapter.
Students
will
welcome an “I’m The Author Now!” session where a few
students will have a chance to act as the author and
share/discuss their completed “Chapter
Challenge” worksheet.
(“I’m The Author Now!” is unique, entertaining & a
positive benefit—which can boost students writing
confidence and self-esteem.) Please note, during this entire
workshop the author’s enthusiasm & theatrics will keep
the pace steadily moving and the students actively engaged.
FYI:
Often schools are limited with their time and combining
grades simplifies this matter. Please keep in mind, whenever
combining grade levels, each grade's writing and reading
capabilities may differ. I suggest grouping no more than two
grade levels (example: grades 7th & 8th).
