Let's
have some fun! In this interactive, educational workshop for
lower elementary grades - students will participate in a
unique story-planning session (story-planning explanation
below) using worksheets designed by the author. Tabatha Jean
D'Agata will also display and discuss early drafts and
finished art samples from one of her children's books. This
sassy demonstration allows children to realize the
importance of change and persistence in order to master a
goal. (This workshop is modified for Kindergarden.)
*A
theatrical book reading ranging 5 - 10 minutes may also be
incorporated for grades K - 1.
The
Story-Planning: Tabatha will brainstorm ideas with children
and challenge them to create story premises. This area of
the workshop is punchy and educational! Grade appropriate
story-planner worksheets designed by the author are
provided. (Using Tabatha's planners allows her to detail the
important steps of writing & developing stories and
characters.) Then a few selected children will be invited to
act as the author and discuss their story, a unique part of
Tabatha's workshop that's entertaining and a positive
benefit--boosting self-esteem and writing confidence! This
workshop is modified for each grade level and is also
tailored to meet the needs of combined grades.
FYI:
Often schools are limited with their time and combining
grades simplifies this matter. Please keep in mind, whenever
combining grade levels, each grade's writing and reading
capabilities may differ. I suggest grouping no more than two
grade levels (example: grades 1 & 2).
